INFLUENCE OF ADJUSTMENT OF PHASE SHIFTERS INSTALLED IN THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE REGION ON CROSS-BORDER POWER FLOWS

Summary. In recent years, power transmission systems in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region are subject to considerable unscheduled power flows. These flows lead to both the deterioration of operational safety of the interconnected power systems, and the limitations of the available transmission capacity. One possible way to reduce these undesirable flows is to use phase shifting transformers (PSTs), i.e. special transformers that are used to control active power flows in transmission networks. The paper explains the meaning of the application of PSTs in electric transmission systems, presents the most common solutions of PSTs and discusses the issue of unscheduled flows in the CEE region. The main purpose of this paper is to present study results on the influence of the application of PSTs in the CEE region on cross-border power flows.

THE ANALITYCAL METHOD FOR POLE PLACEMENT OF A PROPORTIONAL OBSERVER

Summary. This paper describes the analytical method for proportional observer design. The method enables unimpeded observer poles placement in the complex plane. Locus of observer poles can be independent of or dependent on motor speed. General formulas for induction motor poles and proportional observer poles are presented, as well as specific formulas for the elements of the gain matrix for selected cases of pole placement. Results of computer simulations performed for a case of sensored and sensorless multiscalar control system of an induction motor are presented.

DESIGN OF PROPORTIONAL OBSERVER WITH THE FIXED VALUE OF THE GAIN MATRIX AMPLIFICATION INDEX

Summary. This paper describes the analytical method for proportional observer design. The method enables observer poles placement in the complex plane in such a way that the gain matrix amplification index is equal or not greater than the reference value. Specific formulas for the elements of the gain matrix for two cases of pole placement are presented as well as the method of observer design taking into consideration the reference value of gain matrix amplification index. Results of computer simulations performed for sensorless multiscalar control system of an induction motor are presented.

MODEL OF WAVEGUIDE SENSOR BASED ON MULTIMODE INTERFERENCE STRUCTURES

Summary. Model of sensor based on multimode interference structures is presented in the paper. The gradient index waveguide structures obtained in the K-Na ion-exchange process are analyzed theoretically. Analysis were carried out on the basis of a BPM method (beam propagation method). The obtained results show that changes of MMI section cladding parameters lead to changes in the output signal intensity.

THERMAL MES ANALYSIS OF PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD

Summary. Two methods of construction of printed circuit boards are compared: standard one, using FR-4 laminate, and novel one with material on a metal substrate (IMS), dedicated to high-current circuits. The method of modeling of PCB circuits based on finite element method (FEM) is also proposed. The presented thermal model correctly represents PCB circuit. Difference between calculated and measured temperature is less than 4 %. Thermal model makes it possible to calculate temperature distribution in the PCB and enables significant increase in the power density of PCB by optimizing the arrangement of elements and use of IMS material.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LABORATORY WORK STATION FOR TESTING PM MOTOR

Summary. Laboratory stand for testing permanent magnet motor, built for engineering project required in B.Sc. thesis is presented in the paper. Components of the laboratory stand are characterized. The designed control unit, which enables operation of PM motor either in stepper motor mode or in BLDC motor mode, is described. The results of investigations of control unit and the PM motor are presented as well.

Summary. The article presents selected methods for determining the resistive ranges of operating zones of distance protection measures HV overhead lines with increased capacity limit. The paper also presents the developed method of parameterization of the resistive ranges of operating zones as well as the resistance values of detected faults by distance protection parameterized these methods for an example network.

Summary. The article presents selected methods for determining the resistive ranges of operating zones of distance protection measures HV overhead lines with increased transmission capacity limit. The ranges of distance protection devices have been selected for a given network system. Efficiency of the device has been calculated from the viewpoint of transition resistance of detected faults.
