COMPARISON OF ACTIVE POWER FILTER CONTROL ALGORITHMS

Summary. Application of active power filter (APF) is one of the methods for higher harmonic reduction, reactive power compensation or symmetrization in three-phase systems. APF connected to power system, depending on control strategy and configuration, can fulfil all of these functions or only selected ones. Active compensator requires different control algorithms depending on its connection and type of network where it operates. The basic goal of control algorithms is to determine correctly reference compensation currents which are introduced into supply network.

CALCULATIONS OF POWER SYSTEM ELECTROMECHANICAL EIGENVALUES BASED ON ANGULAR SPEED WAVEFORMS AT A STEP DISTURBANCE

Summary. Rresults of calculations of power system (PS) state matrix eigenvalues associated with electromechanical phenomena are presented in the paper. Calculations are based on the transient waveforms of the angular speed of PS generating unit generators resulting from disturbance in the form of a step change in the voltage regulator reference voltage of one of the generating units. The method used to calculate the eigenvalues consists of approximation of the angular speed waveforms with the help of waveforms resulting from superposition of modal components whose parameters depend on the sought eigenvalues.

ELECTROMECHANICAL TRANSIENT STATES OF DISTRIBUTED SOURCES OPERATING IN A DISTRIBUTION NETWORK

Summary. Investigations of transient states of distributed sources connected to a MV distribution network are presented in the paper. System with five distributed sources is discussed. It was assumed that synchronous and asynchronous generators were installed in the distributed sources. Nonlinearity of the magnetizing characteristic was taken into account in the mathematical models of the distributed sources. It was assumed that one distributed source was equipped with voltage, power and frequency regulators to stabilize the system operation. Parameter optimization of those regulators with use of a genetic algorithm was also performed. The optimization was made during switching the analyzed network to the autonomous operation. The parameter uncertainty of the mathematical models of selected elements of the power system was taken into account in the investigations.

NON-PROPORTIONAL OBSERVERS OF MAGNETIC FLUXES OF AN INDUCTION MOTOR

Summary. The paper summarizes recently conducted researches of Luenberger observers with non-linear feedbacks, applied for reconstruction of magnetic fluxes of an induction motor. Structures of mathematical models of the observers are presented, criteria and methods for observer gains selection are given.

HIGH FREQUENCY CLASS DE AND E RESONANT INVERTERS – MODELING, CONTROL, APPLICATIONS

Summary. Two resonant inverters, Class DE and E, based on MOSFET transistors and at frequencies in the megahertz’s range are described in the paper. The operation principle and analytically-numerical models are presented. The output capacitance and sufficient switch-off time of MOSFET is taken into account in inverter models. The most recent RF Power MOSFET transistors and two types of gate drivers are described – discrete type and resonant type. An example of application of 500 W/13,56 MHz Class DE inverter dedicated to dielectric heating is discussed too.

COUNTERMEASURES FOR DEALING WITH UNSCHEDULED POWER FLOWS WITHIN AN INTERCONNECTED POWER SYSTEM

Summary. In recent years in Central and Eastern Europe a strong growth in unscheduled compensatory power flows between transmission systems of the different countries, known as loop flows, has been observed. One of the underlying causes of the increase in this phenomenon is the dynamic development of wind farms on the territory of Germany. Unscheduled power flows from the German system are a major issue for the Polish Power System (PPS), as they heighten the risk of loss of operational safety of the system. In order to avoid the negative effects of unscheduled flows, the Polish transmission system operator has been taking suitable remedial measures aimed at reducing the load of PPS elements and areas at risk. The article describes the results of analyses illustrating the effectiveness of control methods (those currently applied and those to be implemented) for dealing with cross-border power flows as remedies to counteract unscheduled flows.

MEASUREMENTS OF PARTIAL DISCHARGE IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF INSULATION SYSTEMS OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

Summary. The article presents the methods of partial discharge measurements and their importance in the diagnosis of technical insulation systems. In particular, the electrical method of the partial discharge measurement has been described. This is an autonomous method of measurement, but it also constitutes a part of the complex method of the partial discharge assessment, developed in Electrical Faculty of Silesian University of Technology. Results of partial discharge measurements in selected insulation systems are also presented as well as innovative method of result interpretation, which has been developed in the Institute of Power Systems and Control.

ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF DYNAMIC ERRORS IN FEEDBACK TRACKS ON THE QUALITY OF AUTOMATIC CONTROL

Summary. The article presents the results of simulation studies of the impact of dynamic errors introduced by the transducers used in the feedback of control systems. Certain assumptions about the properties of both controlled systems and measuring circuits were used. The obtained results indicate that the neglect of the measurement channel characteristics in the analysis of the control system could lead to material differences between the actual and the expected course of the control process, both in transient and steady state. Transfer functions of controllers correcting influence of dynamic errors for a broad class of input-output models of controlled objects were also calculated, using a method based on the theoretical analysis.

ASSESSMENT OF ELECTRICAL NETWORK POWER COMPONENTS DURING OPERATION OF AN ACTIVE POWER FILTER ACCORDING TO IEEE 1459-2010 STANDARD

Summary. The paper deals with assessment of power components according to ІЕЕЕ 1459-2010 standard during operation of a three-phase active power filter in complex with a nonlinear unbalanced load under the conditions of balanced and unbalanced network voltage. Correction of the algorithm of Fryze theory taking into consideration the cases of load currents’ and network voltage unbalance has been proposed. Fryze algorithm correction is performed with determination of power and currents values according to ІЕЕЕ 1459-2010 standard. A comparative assessment of the quality of operation of the active power filter has been carried out with the use of algorithms based on different power theories (pq-theory, Fryze theory).

POSTGRADUATE PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT IN UKRAINE

Summary. The paper analyzes the current state of modern lifelong education in Ukraine and the ways of its reformation. Current issues in adult education were considered and analyzed. Structured presentation and classification of varieties of lifelong professional education are given. Main paths for professional education upgrading are determined. An integrated approach for the modern educational service system implementation based on lifelong learning is proposed. The principles of cooperation between local authorities, State Employment Service, employers, training centers for providing educational services are explained. Ways of implementation of the information system for postgraduate education quality assessment and career adaptation providing are proposed. Personal and group assessment criteria of higher professional education efficiency on the basis of graduates career monitoring are given.
