IMPROVING POWER QUALITY BY APPLICATION OF ACTIVE FILTER - CASE STUDY

Summary. The paper presents methods for improving power supply quality with properly selected active filter, obtaining better power factor and lower levels of voltage and current harmonics. Real case of active filter application in industry has been analysed. Measurement results of quality indicators of energy are given for active filter in use and filter switched off. Analysis of the cost-effectiveness of its use has been conducted.

POSSIBLE APPLICATION OF SiC AND GaN MOSFET TRANSISTORS IN CLASS DE INVERTER

Summary. In the initial part of the paper, basic differences between MOSFET transistors based on silicon carbide (SiC) or gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon transistors (Si) are presented. The next part contains explanation of optimal operation mode of Class DE inverter. Simple model of inverter is presented, it is used to estimate maximum operation frequency. It has been evaluated on the basis of this model and parameters from datasheets of selected transistors, that inverter with GaN transistors can operate at higher frequency that inverter with Si and SiC transistors.

POWER DISTRIBUTION IN CIRCUIT WITH BRIDGE RECTIFIER IN CONTINUOUS OPERATION MODE

Summary. The paper deals with a one-phase AC circuit with the full-wave bridge rectifier, series inductance and resistance. The continuous operation mode of the rectifier is investigated. Circuit equations have been defined and solved in Simulink. For the analysis of the circuit, the method of dimensionless variables was used. The balance of active and reactive power in the circuit was performed. The active and reactive power of the fundamental harmonic and higher harmonics was analysed.

IMPACT OF ADJUSTMENT OF PHASE SHIFTERS INSTALLED IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE REGION ON CROSS-BORDER POWER FLOWS

Summary. In recent years, power transmission systems in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region are subject to considerable unscheduled power flows. These flows lead to both the deterioration of operational safety of the interconnected power systems, and the limitations of the available transmission capacity. One possible way to reduce these undesirable flows is to use phase shifting transformers (PSTs), i.e. special transformers that are used to control active power flows in transmission networks. This paper explains the meaning of the application of PSTs in electric transmission systems, presents the most common solutions of PSTs and discusses the issue of unscheduled flows in the CEE region. The main purpose of this paper is to present study results on the influence of the application of PSTs in the CEE region on cross-border power flows.

OUSTALOUP PARALLEL APPROXIMATION

Summary. This article presents Oustaloup approximation method for fractional differential systems, which has been modified by the authors. Application of this method by using numerical experiments has been shown and behavior of discrete system has been analyzed.

CONTACTLESS DISPLACEMENT CONVERTER WITH SWITCHING MEASUREMENT RANGE

Summary. The main goal of this article is to show the method for automatic change of measuring range of designed displacement-to-voltage converter. The designed displacement-to-voltage converter is used in fully automated test bench for investigation of SMA material properties. The entire designed system makes possible measurements of electro-thermo-mechanical characteristics. The main control components were implemented in LabVIEW program.

NEW MEASUREMENT APPLICATIONS OF INDUCTIVE METHODS IN DIAGNOSTICS OF STEEL MATERIAL AND STRUCTURE

Summary. This paper presents the theoretical foundations of magneto-inductive flaw detection and its modifications facilitating the study of changes in the structure and fatigue degradation. We have proved high measuring resolution in identification of metal element condition with analysis of operational changes of electric and magnetic parameters as a function of the measurement coil signal frequency. The paper presents practical solutions in the form of equipment and measuring methods making it possible to lower testing costs in relation to professional flaw detection equipment.

PHASE SHIFTER IN QUASI-BALANCED CIRCUITS WITH DETUNING

Summary. A virtual measurement system, designed to measure loss factor tan δ, has been analysed in this paper. The system uses a structure of non-bridge, quasi-balanced circuit for capacitance measuring. After detuning the system from the quasi-balanced state, it is possible to measure tan δ. Some implementations of the phase shifters in the LabVIEW environment are presented. The influence of the signal parameters on the phase shift error is presented. The short-term Fourier transform algorithm has been used as the phase angle measurement algorithm. Results of simulation studies and results of the real measuring system using data acquisition board USB-6251 from National Instruments are compared.

INVESTIGATION OF OXYGEN SENSOR BASED ON RUTHENIUM COMPOUNDS

Summary. Ruthenium is a chemical compound which is characterized by the luminescence phenomenon in the presence of oxygen and at a suitable excitation light having a wavelength corresponding to blue. This paper presents the construction of a planar oxygen sensor based on ruthenium compounds and preliminary oxygen concentration measurements using a constructed sensor. The work included determination of the composition of mixture reacting to changes in oxygen concentration and construction of the planar sensor. The measurement part consisted of implementation of the appropriate measuring chamber and measurements of the concentration. The initial research shows that sensor is characterized by high sensitivity and is selective.
