SIMULATION OF MAGNETIC FLUX DENSITY DISTRIBUTION IN HELMHOLTZ COILS USING FEMM 4.2 SOFTWARE

Summary. Results of computer simulations of Helmholtz coils using FEMM 4.2 program are presented in the paper. Coils are located in Central Office of Measures (GUM, Poland). Distribution of magnetic flux density is presented in the paper in graphical form. Heterogeneity of the coils' field is a source of some uncertainty in the field standard. The aim of the work is the analysis of this uncertainty component.

ANALYSIS OF RESONANCE PHENOMENA IN COMPLEX FRACTIONAL – ORDER CIRCUITS

Summary. Analysis of the resonance phenomena in complex circuits of the class RL_βC_α , i.e. containing at least three fractional-order elements, has been presented in the paper. From the general resonance conditions relations describing resonance frequencies have been derived. The number of resonance frequencies depends on the values of: α, β, L_β and C_α . The analysis has been illustrated by a simulation example.

MECHANICAL RESONANCE IN HIGH SPEED PERMANENT MAGNET BRUSHLESS DC MOTOR

Summary. The paper presents how to determine the ranges of rotational speeds for high-speed brushless DC motors (PM BLDC), in which the mechanical resonance caused by flexural and torsional vibrations occurs. In the comparative analysis real measurement data of the developed high-speed PM BLDC motors have been used. Presented results of a laboratory experiment confirmed the correctness of the method of calculation of resonance occurrence in PM BLDC motor.

EFFICIENCY ANALYSIS OF AN ELECTROMAGNETIC LAUNCHER

Summary. A multistage electromagnetic launcher (EML) construction followed by its model analysis have been presented in the paper. The EML under consideration belongs to the class of so called coilguns – the force used to accelerate a projectile is obtained with the help of coils. The EML simulations have been made by means of FEMM and Scilab software. Consequently, waveforms of mechanical quantities describing the projectile movement, such as displacement, instantaneous velocity and acceleration, as well as electrical quantities describing phenomena in successive coil circuits have been obtained. The results are consistent with theoretical considerations as well as results reported by other authors. The future work will include comparison of simulation and measurement results followed by evaluation of simplifying assumptions undertaken in the paper.

DESIGN OF PASSIVE RESONANCE FILTERS FOR ATTENUATION OF HIGHER CURRENT HARMONICS IN SINGLE-PHASE INSTALLATIONS

Summary. The paper describes a program created for current harmonics filter design in Scilab environment. Computation algorithm is described in reference to inner data structure of the program. Exemplary filter designed with the help of the program is also presented, as well as current transients and harmonics spectrum calculated for lighting installation with applied designed filter.

VIRTUAL PHASE SHIFT METER

Summary. The paper presents the possibility of using virtual instrument for the phase shift measurement. The hardware is built on the basis of National Instrument data acquisition card and PC. The software is based on LabVIEW. The measurement results were compared with results obtained from simulation.

SYNTHESIS OF ELECTRONIC FRACTIONAL-ORDER COMPONENTS OF ARBITRARY FRACTIONAL-ORDER PARAMETERS

Summary. The paper presents the results of a synthesis of new fractional-order elements, using classic fractional-order components, such as ultracapacitors and real coils with ferromagnetic cores. It is a continuation of studies conducted in [13-14] and focused construction of fractional-order elements using a generalized impedance converter GIC. Three cases have been analyzed in the paper: first, with three fractional-order elements, where one of them is the load impedance of the generalized impedance converter; second, with four fractional-order elements - three being the part of the structure of GIC and the other being the load impedance; and the last case, when all five original reactances are of fractional-order. The derived relations and possible configurations are illustrated by simulations. The impact of different values of the parameters α and β on the solution of the discussed problem has also been analyzed.

TRANSIENT STATES IN QUADRIPOLES UTILIZING FRACTIONAL ORDER ELEMENTS

Summary. The paper presents a mirror Γ-network containing fractional-order elements. Fractional calculus was employed for the transient analysis of network operation. Comparative analysis was performed for a classic two-port network and defined mirror Γ-network in no-load state, short-circuit state and under load conditions for unit step function input. The obtained results are presented in graphical form and compared to results obtained using classic methods.
